CRIMINAL

We are known nationwide for our specialist criminal department.   Work in the criminal courts has always been at the heart of the service that we provide.  

The criminal department is jointly led by Anthony Edwards and Jim Nichol who between them have over 50 years experience of the criminal courts.   Both Anthony and Jim are recognised as leaders in the field of criminal defence work

We currently have a total of 16 qualified solicitors and 10 other fee earners.   We can help you in the police station, magistrates’ court, youth court, Crown Court as well as dealing with an appeal at any level.

Our team of experienced solicitors and advocates are able to deal with even the most complex of cases from the police station through to the highest courts.

All of our staff are fully trained in criminal defence work and regularly receive training to keep up with the latest developments in the law.  Members of the department also train other lawyers and write textbooks on criminal law and procedure.

The department has an emergency service for police station arrests which is available 24 hours a day, every day of the year.   This service is completely free.

 We are aware that many people find themselves in trouble with the law because of other problems in their lives such as homelessness, alcohol or drug addiction and mental health problems.   We therefore work closely with our colleagues in other parts of the firm to help find practical solutions and support for our clients who need help.
