WHAT DOES IT COST

Public funding, in the form of Legal Help, may be available in appropriate cases, to cover the cost of advice and assistance in respect of employment law matters. Public funding is not available for funding representation, (save for appeals to the Employment Appeals Tribunal). We can assess your eligibility for public funding, if applicable, and/or advise you on alternative funding methods – as below.

You may be entitled to benefit from legal expenses insurance, (either free-standing or linked to home/contents insurance, car insurance, credit cards etc) or through Trade Union membership.

In appropriate cases we can act for you under a Conditional Fee Agreement (“CFA”), also known as “no win, no fee”. Where a case is funded under a CFA, if you lost your case then generally we would not seek to charge for the time we spend dealing with your case. If you do win your case then we would be entitled to recover an agreed amount or agreed proportion of compensation that you recover. (Generally, regardless of whether you win or lose a case in the Employment Tribunal, no order will be made for you to pay or to be paid your/your opponent’s legal costs).

Cases can also be funded on a standard private client basis. Our private charging rates are currently as follows:-

  • Partners £180 – £240 per hour plus VAT
  • Assistant Solicitors 3 years PQE £150 – £210 per hour plus VAT
  • Junior Solicitors £120 – £170 per hour plus VAT
  • Paralegals and trainees £105 per hour plus VAT

(These rates are subject to annual review each July and different rates may apply subject to particular circumstances).
