Carolyn Taylor

Carolyn is the Head of Mental Health Department and she specialises in all aspects of law relating to mental health. She is a member of The Law Society's Mental Health Panel and the Mental Health Lawyer's Association. She is co-author of 'Advising Mentally Disordered Offenders - a practical guide' (The Law Society). Carolyn has sat as a Mental Health Review Tribunal president since 1995 and is an Appraiser for the Tribunal. She was nominated for Legal Aid Mental Health Lawyer of the Year in 2006. Carolyn regularly trains practitioners and non-lawyers in mental health and criminal law. Her Higher Court cases include R v Hickey no. 1 and 2 (1995) and R v SSHD exp MH (2000). She has civil Higher Rights of Audience.

Claire was trained by Carolyn Taylor and her practice covers a wide range of cases including representation at Mental Health Review Tribunals, Managers' Hearings and advice on mental health law. She is also a criminal lawyer.
