TV Edwards' personal injury department acted for a woman in her 60’s who had an accident whilst at work. She sustained an injury to her shoulder whilst moving some boxes in a store area. The client then sustained a second injury to her foot when she fell whilst at home recovering from surgery to her shoulder. It was argued as part of the claim that the second injury should also be compensated for by the employer given that it would not have occurred but for the original accident. Liability was denied throughout the claim. However, the client received an award of £55,000, including claims for the injuries, care provided by family and a lump sum in respect of future loss of earnings.
TV Edwards solicitors also acted for a 19 year old man who was injured whilst attending a nightclub. The client was assaulted by a member of the security staff and sustained facial injuries as a consequence. The client broke his cheek bone and required reconstructive surgery and aftercare. He was left with some residual disability. A claim was made to the company providing security at the venue. Liability was initially denied but the claim subsequently resolved after the issuing of court proceedings by a negotiated settlement of £29,500.
