No justice for migrant children in care proceedings

“The Legal Aid Agency (LAA) has now closed its consultation on further cuts to legal aid (https://consult.justice.gov.uk/digital-communications/transforming-legal-aid).  There has been widespread dismay at the proposals, from churches,  charities, and voluntary groups, as well as from judges, the government’s own lawyers, and legal aid lawyers themselves. This has attracted unprecedented media interest.  Letters published on 12.06.13 in the Guardian – one from TV Edwards family department partner Maud Davis, as co chair of the Association of Lawyers for Children – focus on the proposed “residency test” and the injustices that would create.”
