Former Partner at Taylor Nichol, Carolyn joined us as a Consultant in 2008, becoming a Member Partner in 2011. Carolyn is acknowledged as one of the foremost Crime and Mental health lawyers in the country. She is described in Legal 500 as having significant experience in human rights, both as a civil and criminal lawyer, and is an acknowledged expert in this field. Carolyn has been involved in legal professional training for 20 years. She provides specific training in mental health law to the profession, local authorities and other agencies.

Carolyn specialises in all aspects of law relating to mental health and crime, in particular representing at Mental Health Tribunals. She also represents mentally disordered offenders and people with learning difficuties.

Accreditations: Duty solicitor accredited representative on Law Society Mental Health panel, Civil and criminal Higher Rights Advocate.

Notable Cases: R v H no. 1 and 2 (1995) and R v SSHD exp MH (2000).

Panel Memberships: Member of the Mental Health Lawyers’ Association and The Law Society’s Mental Health Panel and Mental Health and Disability Committee. Carolyn has sat as a Mental Health Tribunal Judge since 1995 and is an appraiser for the Tribunal.
