Maira Suzin

Maira works as a paralegal in our Social Welfare department, based at Whitechapel. Supervised by Katie Brown, Maira helps to manage our new client enquiries and provides support to all of the solicitors in the department.

Maira combines her paralegal role at TV Edwards LLP with studying for a law degree at Queen Mary University of London. Alongside her studies, she has been collaborating with LawWorks, Queen Mary Legal Advice Centre and the Pro Bono Department at her university, to promote and encourage pro bono work across the profession.

Through the Pro Bono department at Queen Mary University, she helps to coordinate several Legal Advice Clinics that provide advice in areas such as tax, company, debt, housing, family, welfare benefits and community care issues. She has also helped to implement the Refugee Referral Project in partnership with All Sorts Youth charity. This project aims to offer young LGBT refugees the support they need when applying for refugee status in the United Kingdom.

Maira’s experience with Pro Bono work has helped her to develop a keen interest in Social Welfare law and the provision of publicly funded and affordable advice as a means to further access to justice to all.
