At TV Edwards your case will be dealt with from the outset by a member of our specialist Youth Crime team.

Children can be arrested from the age of 10. They can be detained at a police station, interviewed and, in some cases, charged to appear at court.

Unfamiliar, daunting, frightening. This is how the criminal process is often regarded by the young people who become caught up in it. It’s a stressful time for their parents or guardians too.

At TV Edwards our Youth Crime Solicitors specialise in advising and representing young people at the police station, at youth and magistrates’ courts, at the Crown Court and on appeal. We get involved from the beginning of the investigation and we’re by your side through to the end of the case. Our skill is in offering first-class legal and practical support to all involved and delivering the best possible outcome for the young person.

Why choose us?

At TV Edwards your case will be dealt with from the outset by a member of our specialist Youth Crime team. You will get to know each other, and you’ll find that they are easy to talk to, they explain everything clearly and they understand your situation. They know the law and how to use it to your advantage, and they will be there for you throughout the police investigation and any court proceedings.

Our team works across our two offices in London. We can arrange appointments at either of our offices or arrange prison and home visits where appropriate.

Our experience

Our Youth Crime work ranges from criminal damage to street robbery, serious sexual and violent offences including murder.

We regularly appear at the youth courts across London where our lawyers have earned a reputation for successfully representing young people. The same is said of the more serious cases we deal with in the Crown Courts throughout London including the Old Bailey.

The Youth Crime team is led by Mark Ashford who is widely acknowledged as one of the best lawyers in the field. He is the co-author of a legal textbook on defending young people accused of crime and he trains other solicitors on youth court practice.

Within the team there is a special interest in representing young people who have learning difficulties and mental health issues.

We are also involved in our local communities working with youth groups and other organisations providing training and advice.

Funding

Legal aid is almost always available for cases involving young people. However where it is not available, or to ensure that your case is dealt with by a youth crime specialist we can quote you a competitive fixed fee. If you require our assistance, or would like further information, please contact the criminal department on 0203 440 8000.
