Clare joined T V Edwards in January 2021 as acting Head of Family Finance. She was admitted as a Solicitor in 1996, since when she has specialised in Family law, practising at a number of firms in Surrey, Kent and London. She therefore has many years’ experience of all aspects of Family law.

In family finance, she has a wealth of experience, assisting clients with assets of high value and complexity, including cases with complex pension or business assets. Clare has assisted on a number of cases involving the intervention of third parties claiming an interest in the family assets, which adds an exceptional degree of complexity to a divorce. Her advice is pragmatic, clear, and practical.

In cases relating to children, she has substantial experience of cases involving domestic abuse, substance misuse, and mental health issues, as well as cross-border and removal cases.

Her recent cases have included

  • resolution of an extremely high conflict divorce through lockdown, including securing shared residence for the husband, defeating attempts to oust him from the home, and successfully countering very high maintenance demands from the wife
  • concluding a long-running divorce, including securing a substantial payment to wife in respect of the husband’s business, and obtaining an award of costs against the husband in view of his repeated delays and failures in compliance with Court directions.
  • securing the return of children to their Mother’s care in Scotland from England, following cross-allegations of unlawful overseas removal from the Father
  • resolution of an acrimonious high value divorce, including successfully ousting the husband from the home pending sale, and achieving a generous capital settlement for the wife in respect of both properties and the husband’s company, including substantial maintenance pending capital payment
